Who is Shermin Voshmgir?
Shermin Voshmgir is the author of the book Token Economy and the founder of Token Kitchen and BlockchainHub Berlin. Previously, she was the director of the Research Institute for Cryptoeconomics at the Vienna University of Economics, which she co-founded and a curator of the infamous TheDAO (Decentralised Investment Fund) in 2016. She is currently setting up a data-driven farm in Portugal with her partner, where they investigate how to tokenise agricultural assets and sustainable ecosystem services such as soil quality or CO2 capture with the support of hardware wallets and sensor technology. She is Austrian with Iranian roots and now lives in Portugal, where she works on the intersection of technology, agriculture, art & social science.

In this article, inspired by the movement of open spaces in cities across the world and resilience theory, I argue that city and human resilience are tightly interlinked, and it is possible to positively influence both through utilising the transformative power of open spaces in novel ways.
